RUN wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their generosity! When we went to visit Harlie at the beginning of the week, we asked her what would make her happy. She said, “I want movies, a lot of movies, and a pair of Beats headphones. I want the headphones so I can disappear from this room. I do not want to hear the constant beeping and all of the people”. We shared this information with Megan and she was determined to make this happen for Harlie. Megan and Melissa sent out an email at work to a few co-workers as well as on Facebook. With help from their co-workers, their own collection and even a couple of strangers, they were able to collect over 150 DVDs for Harlie. Megan also received a few gift cards from her co-workers that helped pay for a new set of Beats headphones!!

Megan and Katie delivered a whole tote and box, full of DVDs to Harlie. She was sleeping and in a lot of pain when they first got there. When she woke up and turned over to see all the DVDs she instantly smiled. Katie also got her a present. She took money out of her savings account and wanted to get something that would make Harlie smile. She went to the mall and found the perfect gift. She opened the gift for her and pulled out a Sponge Bob shirt. Harlie smiled, even got a twinkle in her eye and said “I love it! Thank you so much.”

It is small stuff like this that can help Harlie get better and have hope. Harlie and her family are so touched by all of the people following Harlie’s journey. It means so much to all of them.  We hope the Sponge Bob shirt from Katie can give something for Harlie to look forward to in the near future. A fun shirt to wear outside of the four walls she is living in now.  We are also planning to redecorate her bedroom at home!  She wants zebra accents with hot pink and lime green colors. Bright, fun, happy colors! We want her to have something HUGE to look forward to when she gets home!
