Gabe Valdez: “Harlie was vomiting all day yesterday and was running a fever so we took her in at 10pm last night. You know the drill. We went through all of the tests. They pumped her full of fluids for dehydration. They released us at 3:30am.”

Stephanie Valdez: “Good morning. Harlie’s heartrate was high, blood pressure low. She had a fever of over 100 degrees. She was vomiting all day and all night. They took a lot of blood and gave her two bags of fluid by IV along with some antibiotics. Some of her blood work came back but some of it hasn’t come back yet. Like Gabe said, they sent us home at 3:30am because it is very dangerous for Harlie to be at Primary Children’s Hospital due to getting an infection there. So, we do not have answers as to why Harlie is so sick right now. We are waiting for the results of the remaining blood work.”

We just saw Harlie on Wednesday night at her Make A Wish Utah event.  Her friends and family as well as the University of Utah Men’s Basketball Team  had a tour of their facility and Harlie was able to hang her star.

This is crazy! Talk about the highs and lows of rare disease! Harlie looked amazing on Wednesday night. She was absolutely beautiful and walking on her own! She looked like she was on the path of full recovery! Lesson learned. Every day is a new day. You never know if it is going to be a “good” day or a “bad” day. There definitely is never going to be a “normal” day. Harlie’s fight continues. JDM, juvenile dermatomyositis, is not going to beat Harlie Valdez. IMG_0346
