Insurance approval for “quint analysis” whole exome sequencing (not whole genome sequencing)

We finally realized that there was no way to get the whole genome sequencing approved at this time for our family with the way our policy was written by our insurance company. However, through our continued perseverance, we were able to get a “quint analysis” approved for whole exome sequencing with our insurance company.  The order is in and it is official!  This is a huge step in the right direction!
Thank you to the genetic counselor and the entire team working with our family!  It took a lot of their time and a lot of hard work to get to this point. In the clinical setting, the team now has ninety days to let us know if they find answers through the whole exome sequencing.  If not, we will  push for the whole genome sequencing through our insurance company. As of now, we are following the insurance company’s rules and guidelines. We pray that the whole exome sequencing will give us answers for our three undiagnosed children.
